Make it 13 straight wins for the Darton State College baseball team.

The Cavaliers used solid defense in the opener, followed by a critical three-run home run in the nightcap to sweep the Andrew College Tigers 1-0 and 9-3 in a doubleheader at Cavalier Field on Saturday.

The win gave the Cavs their 13th straight win dating back to March 25, when they defeated West Georgia Tech 13-3.

Darton (30-13 overall, 20-4 in the GCAA) relied on a solid performance from the field to win the first game. The only run of the contest came in the bottom of the fourth inning, when Payton Mann hit an RBI single, allowing Brandon Sharpe to score running from first base.

In the second game, the Cavaliers broke a 2-2 tie by scoring five runs in the bottom of the fifth inning. Luis Salas provided the big blow for the his team during that frame, hitting a three-run home run over the left field wall for a commanding 7-2 lead.

Andrew (10-30, 4-20) scored two of its only three runs of the entire doubleheader in the top the third inning of game two, thanks to an RBI triple from Charles Stubbs to draw even with Darton.

The Tigers added one more run in the top of the sixth inning to make the score 7-3, only to see the Cavaliers add two more runs in the bottom in the sixth to seal the sweep.

Starting pitcher Brandon Goldsmith and reliever Davis Adkins combined to allow five hits in pitching all seven shutout innings in the opener. Adkins also retired the side in order in the nightcap to complete the sweep of the Tigers.

The Cavs return to action on Tuesday, traveling to Tifton to start a four-game series against ABAC.
